5 Tips for Growing Your Page’s Following on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a great resource for companies looking to grow brand awareness and interact with their target audience. However, simply creating a LinkedIn page is not enough – you’ll want to grow your audience so people actually see your content. Fortunately, there are a variety of ways to go about achieving this. Here’s a look at five tips for growing your page’s following on LinkedIn.

Have a strategy

Before you start posting, create a well-planned strategy to help guide your actions on the platform. To start, make sure you have a solid understanding of your target customer – after all, these are the people you’re trying to talk to. What are their paint points? What topics are important to them? This will help you determine what kinds of content your audience will want to read.

Your strategy should also include how often you’re going to post. Posting on a regular basis can help you succeed on the platform, and the LinkedIn Marketing Solutions team recommends posting at least once per day.[i] You’ll also want to pay attention to the times of day your audience is active and post content at the times they’re most likely to see it.

It’s also important to set goals. What do you want to accomplish with your LinkedIn page? While you can set a goal of reaching a certain follower count, also consider goals related to reach and engagement. You can then track your progress using LinkedIn’s analytics feature.

Share valuable content

Once you have a strategy in place, start getting more specific on the types of posts your page will be publishing. Think back to your target audience, their pain points and their interests. What kind of content will they find valuable? Think about what information you can provide that will help them solve a problem, or what content you can share that will entertain or inspire them. When people see that you’re posting content that resonates with them, they’ll be more likely to follow your page so they don’t miss future posts.

When posting to LinkedIn, think about how you can make your posts more visually appealing and engaging. While text-only posts are an option, consider adding photos or a video to make your content stand out and grab the reader’s attention. Not only will people be more likely to notice and read your post, they may also be more likely to share it, which will help extend your reach. According to the LinkedIn Marketing Solutions team, LinkedIn members are 20x more likely to share a video on LinkedIn than any other type of post.[ii]

Make your page easy to find

While sharing valuable content will help you reach a wider audience, it’s also helpful to make your page as easy as possible to find. Start by making sure your page is fully filled out and includes your logo, an overview of your company, your website, and other information about your organization. This will make it easier for people to find you when searching for your business, and also makes your company appear more professional.

Speaking of searching, you’ll also want to optimize your page for Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, which will help your page rank highly in search results. You can do this by adding specific keywords in your About section, tagline section, and other text areas of your page. Think about what words or phrases people might use to find a company like yours; this will likely be a mix of terms related to your company, products or services, industry, location, and more.

Finally, include links to your LinkedIn page in spaces outside of the platform. For example, you can include a “follow” button on your website, include a link to your page in your email signature, and even include a link to your company page on your personal LinkedIn page. This will help drive people to your LinkedIn page.

Ask your network for support

Don’t be afraid to recruit other people to help get the word out about your LinkedIn page. If you have employees, encourage them to share your content with their networks or tag your company in their posts. You can ask friends and other professional contacts to do the same. This will help put your content in front of people who may not otherwise see it. You can also ask your network to engage with your posts. A great way to do this is by including a Call to Action, or CTA, in your post. Try ending the caption with a question or asking people to provide their opinions on the topic in the comments section. This can help encourage engagement and boost your post’s reach.

Join the conversation

Remember that LinkedIn is a social media platform, so don’t forget to be social! People appreciate when companies take the time to interact with them. When someone leaves a question or comment on your post, respond with something thoughtful. The comments section can be a great place to have a meaningful dialogue.

You can also search hashtags relevant to your company or industry in order to see trending posts and what other people are saying. You can even save a list of hashtags to follow in the “Your Communities” section of your page. Then, simply click a hashtag to see what people are saying and join the conversation by leaving a comment as your organization.
