5 Tips for Feeling Less Overwhelmed with Social Media:
Analytics Review
Create a Strategy Outline
Create a Content Plan
Invest in a Scheduling Platform
Batch Copy/Content
Sit down with your Analytics
The first thing you should be doing at the end of each month to get ready for the next month is reviewing your analytics. A great way to do this is to use a platform such as Later that tracks your analytics for the last month.D During this review take a look at your impressions, your reach, your growth, your website clicks, and what posts when it comes to content did the best. Also, once you have been using this platform you can compare months to each other. Then take a look at your hashtags and how well they did, which ones worked and which didn’t so when you curate hashtags for the next month you don’t use ones that didn’t help your account.
The last thing before moving on to strategy is to take time each month to do end of month competitor research. Ask yourself:
What are your competitors doing?
What content worked for them the best last month?
Create a Strategy Outline
I find that a lot of people don’t do this every month but I feel it’s necessary when working with clients to make sure you outlined the goals for the next month and once that month is over to be able to see if your efforts were in alignment with the goals you set for business. I break strategy outlines into three parts:
Brand Awareness
Growth
Sales
In each section of the strategy outline, I break down what tasks I will be doing daily/weekly to reach each specific goal. I also ask myself how will I measure the success of Brand Awareness, Growth, and Sales. It’s a lot easier to know at the end of the month whether I am reaching my goals if I have it outlined and will be able to track it. An easy way to create an outline is to use Google Documents.
Next comes content
Your visual is everything it shows your audience who you are, it shows them what service you offer, or what product you are selling, the content is what attracts your audience to your brand. Especially now with Instagram and mindless scrolling you really need to put thought into your Visual and what type of content you are using to portray your business. I do think that doing competitor research is necessary, I don’t think never showing the uniqueness of your brand is a good idea. Every time you create a content calendar it should show your vision for the brand. Taking time each month to plan for the next month’s content is very important and you can do this a couple of ways:
You can work with an agency such as us (Healthy Dash of Social) and allow us to create a strategy based on your vision and create content each month for you.
You can use Pinterest as inspiration and hire a photographer to capture your vision
You can create the content yourself just remember on-brand content is very important
When we create content calendars each month for our clients the process goes like this:
A questionnaire sent to the client for the next month to know their vision, what promotions are coming up, any services or products that need to be highlighted, and any other important information the client would like us to know.
Next, we create a Pinterest Inspiration board for the tone, feel of the upcoming content shoot and book a location that matches that
Once we have everything in place we take the strategy created for the next month and implement it at the shoot. We always make sure to connect our strategy with our content shoots.
Invest in a scheduling platform
This is the best thing you will do for your business when it comes to staying organized and consistent with your social media efforts. For example, Later each month, we hold an entire month of content (photos, graphics) copy on every post and we add the hashtags to each post. We then are able to schedule posts at the most optimized time based on that specific audience for each client. This allows us to stay organized, track results, and review the visual/copy in one place. If you are looking to become more organized and consistent in the upcoming year this is something you should be using daily.
Lastly, batch your content
You are busy, you are running a business, and you are trying to work in your zone of genius every day. Waiting till the last minute to post, or going days without posting isn’t helping your digital marketing efforts. Take the time at the end of each month to batch your content and your copy. Schedule a block of time and make it happen I can promise you going through the month having your content and copy set up opens up more time to engage and feel less stressed about social media.
